So yesterday as I was looking for a good quote for a video, I came across something interesting.  Ellen White talks a lot about exercise, but she makes it clear that it should be outside, not in a gym.  She also talks about how we should have balance and that we shouldn’t just exercise just to exercise but that there should be a point to the exercise.

Do we have things backwards?

Why do we exercise? Are we doing it to get buff?  Are we dong it to lose weight?

It seems to me that the real reason we should be exercising should be more to strengthen our relationship to God, so that our mind and body are in better shape to listen to Him.  That’s not something I would have thought about yesterday, but today, after reading what Mrs. White had to say about it, it makes perfect sense.  Not only that, but if we are doing it to strengthen our relationship with God, it changes the motivation to do it.

For me, I am a social exerciser. I exercise with people but have a hard time moving myself to get outside and move on my own.  Will this new outlook change my actions?  Let’s find out together!
